What this is
Shoeboxxed is a running shoe database built around structured reviews, runner context, comparison tools, public lists, and profile-aware discovery.
Why it exists
Running shoe reviews are most useful when you can compare them against runners with similar feet, mileage, terrain, and taste. A single star rating is not enough; fit, width, cushion, ride, durability, and use case all matter.
How recommendations work
The first recommendation system is intentionally simple and explainable. It uses catalog specs, review scores, runner profile fields, wants, rotations, follows, and similar-shoe matching to produce reason labels like good for wide feet, daily mileage, soft ride, or trail grip.
Over time, the recommendation layer can grow into lightweight machine learning, but the product should keep showing the reason a shoe appears so runners can trust the result.
Independence
Catalog pages and community reviews are designed to separate runner signal from marketing copy. If affiliate, retailer, or brand partnerships are added later, commercial relationships should be labeled clearly.
